Summit Point 04.27.03

This was a weekend filled with angst and a near tragedy.  

After reports of rain all weekend, the weather cooperated.  Peter qualified 10th; i did worse at 13th.

On Sunday, Peter got a very good jump at the start but got banged severely on the straight, went off left and hit an earth berm in order to avoid a tree.  This launched the car into the air.  He flipped, and landed in a 'bog' of deep water.

He was trapped and his helmet was filling with water.  Fortunately, they got to him in time.  He was bruised, shaken, wet... and furious with the completely unnecessary agressiveness and poor driving of the car that hit him.

There is much discussion of this event at www.specracer.com, including a brief video. Apparently, the guy went on to cause further mayhem, taking out other cars and endangering many. 

Parenthetically, after much time, we started again.  I had qualified 13th; finished 6th in a very solid race.  My best times were in the 1:26's.
