5/02 550 Maranello sold!

Yup.   Sold the 550M (at a monster loss) to make room for another race car (probably a 355 Challenge car).  Also, i wasn't driving it much, and was aware of it's mileage (the market is very, very mileage sensitive).  In selling it, have become more objective of it's virtues and faults.  Here's an assessment after 2+ years of use.

Good -

.engine, engine, engine!

Bad -

. weight; structure dated

. comfort: seat narrow, footwell narrow, etc.

. ergonomics: steering too light, gearchange heavy

. little problems, lack of Ferrari support

. quality of leather, paint

. color (barchetta rosso was a mistake)

A comparison with the 360 Modena:

Good -

. weight & fabulous structure

. engine sound

. ergonomics superb

. handling

. looks

. contemporary design

. titanium color

Bad -

. drivetrain 'slop

Ferrari have come a long way in producing such a fantastic car as the Modena; but there will always be a fondness for the classic design of the 550M (front mounted 5.5litre V-12, rear drive).
